Betty - Review

This book broke my heart into a million pieces.  Then broke it again. I love this family. This family of Cherokee traditions and stories.  This family of family abuse. This family of three sisters.
Betty is one of six surviving children.  After years of traveling the country,  her parents decide to return to Ohio.
Betty starts school - harassed, tormented,  bullied.
But she is rich in family. Her father's love, his stories give her a foundation, an identity.  Her sisters and brothers imagination, connection, bravery. Her mother always a mystery - depression,  mood swings and life.
I cried so many times reading this family history. Their tragedies.  Their reality.
I cannot celebrate this author's bravery enough. Her family's bravery and honesty.
Trigger warning - sexual abuse.
